Inverted Corner Box Tutorial . . . . . . . .

Good morning everyone. Me again, back with the Inverted Corner Box Tutorial.

There are a lot of photos I'm afraid but I work better with picture explanations so hope you all do too.

I hope my ramblings make sense, but if they don't, please shout.

The measurements I have given are for the largest box I could make using a Grand Calibur and for one continuous piece of card. You could, of course, make it wider by doing it as separate panels but I always personally think boxes look tidier if you can use the fewest separate side panels you can.

Start with an A3 piece of card and cut the shorter side (30cm) down to 21cm.
Then score along the longest length (42cm) at the following intervals;
1cm, 9cm, 10cm, 11cm, 19cm, 20cm, 21cm, 29cm, 30cm, 31cm, 39cm, 40cm and 41cm and chop the final one cm off.

Then score along the bottom at 4cm up (or 17cm down depending on which way you want to work lol!!!).
Chop out the pieces from the bottom up to this score line so you end up with a piece of card as shown below.

Cut your pattern die out of each side panel. I used the SW Delicate Adornment as I happened to buy 2 of them as a bargain on eBay and thought they looked good cut out together, but you can use any die/s that cut into the card rather than cutting out.
As your card is 21cm deep, it will go through the Grand Calibur.

After you have cut all four side panels, your piece of card should look like below.
The pencil line you can faintly see is just to get my dies level.

Re-score the already scored lines and fold each panel as below.

Fold the base flaps up as below.

Fold the ends together and stick the ends together to form the box but keeping the corners pushed in. Then stick the bottom flaps down on top of each other to form the base. They won't completely cover the bottom so draw around the base twice and cut out 2 pieces to cover the base inside the box, as below.

And on the very bottom as below.

Draw around the base a third time and cut out a circle that lines up with the corners, as below (apologies for the blurry photo but I think you can see what I mean).

When you have cut out the circle, nip out the corner triangles and score along the edges following the lines (you can rub them out before or after) and you end up with a piece as per below.

From this piece, I cut in a medallion die (I happened to use SB Medallion One) in the centre and punched flowers from the side flaps. I then backed the flaps with some purple card to make the flowers stand out when the lid is on.

Finally, cut four pieces of card to hold the lid in the box. In this case, the square section of the lid is 10cm x 10cm so I cut the four pieces to 7.7cm x 3cm and scored along the longest side at 1cm so that each piece is 1cm one side of the scoreline and 2cm the other side. The picture below shows 2 glued in place (the 1cm side is glued down and to the edge of the flap) and 2 ready to be glued so you can, hopefully, see what I mean.

Bend the flaps in so they are not flattened out and the inner card pieces slot in behind the panels to keep the lid in place. Hope you can see what I mean below.
Add some ribbon through the top to make it easier to pull the lid off.

Embellish as you wish and voila, you have an inverted corner box with lid.

I will add a button to the menu bar at the top of the blog as a future reference point for this tutorial.

Hope you all have a wonderful week.

Boxing Clever. . . . . . . .

Good morning everyone. Hope you are all ok.
Still playing catch up with my blog visits as its been a busy week, as you can imagine with bookings emails etc.

Welcome to new followers Marie B, Deborah G and Sandra G. Thank you for joining our merry (not in a drunken way ...... except a couple of the regulars lol!) band.

Spent Thursday at John's too sorting out the finer points of our Ansty workshop. I am helping out doing the bookings for the Swainby workshop but I'm not the organiser of that one.

You may have noticed, I've had a re-vamp of the blog. I thought it was looking a bit stale after 4 years and needed a bit of a zhuzh up. Hope its not too in your face after the previous pastel tones.
After my initial tweak, I've re-organised the layout so the duck is back (it had done a runner on my first attempt) and changed the text colour from pink on pink lol!!!

Mr D has also been on pulling duties again and the name out of the plant pot for the Paddle Prize offered here is. . . . . . . drumroll. . . . . . . . .
LYDIA

Congratulations Lydia. Thank you for comments and support. Please email me at lockerscrafts@gmail.com with your details so that I can post out your prize.
Apologies to everyone else but thank you for joining in.

Now, today's offering is a box. It was a fiddly beggar to do but something I had wanted to try for a while. Now I've got it sussed, its not so fiddly and I have prepped a tutorial if anyone is interested.
If you look closely, all the corners are inverted rather than squared off (I like to be different).
How to do the lid was a poser but I came up with a solution and it worked so hurrah!!!

Ingredients
A3 sheet of white card
SW Delicate Adornment die (cut twice as mirror images into the sides of the box)
SB Medallion One die (cut into lid)
Presscut Circle die
Tonic flower punch
Purple satin ribbon
Pearage and teeny pearlage

Hope you find it a little different to the norm.  I went for the minimalist look with embellishments so as not to hide the unusual corners.
If you would like me to blog the step by step for this, I'm happy to do so.

Thank you all so much for your lovely comments on my reflections card. It was one of those that I thought "Yup, I really like how that turned out".
I must, however clarify one point. When I said "I went commando" I did mean straight into action without fear of defeat not thinking of the other meaning lol!!!

I can assure anyone of a sensitive disposition that I wasn't undieless in my craft room, mainly as the chair is leather and I wouldn't have fancied peeling myself off it after half a hour of my butt sticking to it.
However Andrea, if you have any success trying the "technique" please share as I'm sure we'd all give it a go (with a cushion in place to prevent the butt peelage situation). . . . . . . . in fact, I shall mention it to John for his next Hochanda appearance. I'm sure that it would increase the viewing figures, if not the sale ones hahaha!!!

Anyhoo, that's me for now, all set for another GP weekend hurrah!!!

Have a fab weekend, whatever you are doing and be good.

Update on John's Workshop Places. . . . . . . .

Hello everyone. Just an update on the availability for John's workshop.
There are now two full day spaces available as a couple of folk have transferred to the northern workshop and there are also a couple of morning only sessions now available as a couple of the ladies have moved to afternoon only sessions due to travel issues.

Please contact me on the email address below if you are interested in booking the final spaces.

John will hold 2 workshops, one 10 - 12.30 and the other 1.30 - 4, covering different stamping/die cutting projects.
I will be his Debbie McGee (without the gold sequins) assisting where required and making sure that the hot water is plentiful for teas and coffees.

There will be a buffet lunch from 12.30 - 1.30 so any one wishing to do just the afternoon session should ensure they are there for 12.30 so they don't miss out on the food.

There will also be a pop up shop selling John's products and some other crafty bits and bobs. Payment for items can be made by cash or card on the day.

The venue itself is a lovely little club with parking and disabled access and with lovely views over the canal and countryside. It is also only 2 minutes drive from the junction with the M6, M69 and A46. As the M1 also links with the M69 and M6, at a 10 to 15 minute drive, it is handy for for folk coming from all directions.

Please contact me on lockerscrafts@gmail.com for further details or to make a booking. A deposit will secure your booking.

Hope to see you there.

Walk Like an Egyptian. . . . . . .

Good morning everyone. Hope this finds you well.

Welcome to J.Ward the latest paddler in the duck pond. Thank you for joining us.

Its been a manic couple of weeks here with 2 lots of samples to make and all the blog posts, a trip to Hochanda and sorting out the bookings for the workshop.
The venue wasn't available to add on the Sunday as well so we are looking at other dates or possibly another central venue for those of you who missed out.

Now, I'm back to John's samples today (I will alternate with Daisy's for the next few posts).
I don't do inky or messy fingers as a rule but it had to be done when I saw the tree stamps.
I will add again, that I don't have the media plates or a stamp press (though that may be obvious lol!!!) so all stamping was done commando and without a safety net.

Ingredients
White and brown card
John Next Door Winter Flowers stamps
John Lockwood sentiment
Variety of Memento and Distress inks

In case you were wondering about the title of this post (apologies if you weren't lol!!!) I hadn't got the pyramids in mind when I did it, just mountains or hills at sunrise/set but when I was in the Green Room watching John last Tuesday, a fella from a jewellery company who had been on earlier, asked me if I had been to the pyramids when the card came on screen.
I still didn't twig when he asked (dense or early start. . . . . . could be either or both lol!!!) so I said no and that it seemed an random question.
He then pointed out my peaky mounds. . . . . . . . stop right there those of you with rude thoughts lol!!!
I can see it now so I don't mind if people want to imagine here, Egypt or anywhere as long as it looks ok.

Mr D will be performing his pulling duties again today so watch out on the next post for the winners name.
Also, if there is any update on the extra workshop situation, I'll let you all know.

So for now, be good.

Ps.....Thank you Barbara. Mr L has told me he has the pate. I should be seeing him Wednesday so I'm hoping he hasn't scoffed it all by then lol!

Craft Workshop With John Lockwood. . . . . .

PLEASE NOTE, THIS WORKSHOP IS NOW FULLY BOOKED.
We had tried to book the venue for Sunday 3rd September too but sadly the venue us not available.
We will continue to try and book another date/venue so keep an eye on this blog and John's for further details.
Apologies for disappointing anyone but we will try our best to get an extra date.

Best wishes
Ang x

Good morning folks. As promised, details of the workshop arranged by myself and John are above.
Usually, John's workshops are arranged by retailers but this is the first one he is doing under his own steam (and some hot air from me too lol!!!) so we hope that you can make it.

Hope to see you there.

More Daisy's. . . . . . .

Good morning all. . . . . . . . . sorry, its me again.

Like a bad penny (or bus, Cara . . . . . how is that spade? Hahaha!!!) I'm back. Thank you for clicking "follow" Barbara. It must have gone through as you're definitely showing as a follower.

After therapy for the thought of Maureen in lederhosen, I have discovered the address you need to go to for the best wisterias. . . . .its Buckingham Palace Road, London SW1A 1AA ask for Liz or Phil.

Now, I mentioned before, that, although the Daisy's stamps are called "cute" you don't have to do cute with them and today's card is another example of non cute.
The fading away of the colour towards the centre is intentional before anyone thinks I ran out of ink lol!!! I had also stamped the snowflake corner with 3 different colour inks at a time.

Ingredients
White and blue card
Silver mirror card
Daisy's Cute Penguin stamp set (snowflakes)
Daisy's Cute Reindeer stamp set (sentiment)
Presscut circle dies
SB Snowflake Pendant 2013
Memento Dew Drop inks

I will give you all a rest for a couple of days now as you're all probably suffering from Duckus Overloadus by now lol!!! The only 2 know cures are a suppository or rest. . . . . . .I'm recommending that you get the rest lol!!!
I also promise, I will catch up with my blog visits over the weekend.

I will post a separate post giving details of the workshop John and I have organised. And when I said Midlands, it is the proper Midlands, not like Midlands Today reporting from Hereford lol!! (I hear you Maureen).

Have a great weekend.

Daisy's Day Two. . . . . . . .

Good morning crafty pals. Hope you are being good?

Thank you for all of your wonderful comments, particularly over the last few manic days. You really are a lovely bunch. . . . . . even Bonnie Fletcher, Clyde Killen and their Yorkie getaway driver lol!!! Talking of which, I'm going to I-Player the Gardeners World featuring the wisterias to see if they give an address, which I will then put on my side bar, pretending its my house to put the ram raiders off the scent.

A very warm welcome to David J, Sandra, Linda, mryoak, Morag and Pauline J who have kindly clicked "follow", hopefully intentionally rather than thinking it was the "delete the boring bint" button hahaha!!!

Don't forget, anyone who is a follower and comments on Tuesday's post (click here) is in with a chance of winning the little paddle Prize on offer.

Now, today's card is another sample from the Daisy's Jewels and Crafts shows that were on Hochanda yesterday. I hope you managed to watch. Even though the stamp sets are called "cute" you can do non cute things with them too. I also love the little MDF Christmas shapes too, particularly the leaping reindeer/stag.

Ingredients
Cream and dark purple card (Ross)
SW Snowflake Corner, Border and Tag die
Daisy's Cute Penguin stamp set (Snowflake stamps)
Daisy's Cute Reindeer stamp set (Sentiment)
Daisy's MDF Reindeer
Variety of Distress Inks
Black marker
Stampendous fine white embossing powder
Pearlage

I was going for the leaping reindeer/stag against the moonlight look (hopefully achieved).

Well, Tuesday was a long and tiring day as John picked me up in the Craftmobile (its like the Batmobile, but we didn't have to wear our underpants over our tights) at 6.30am.
There is only usually one 6.30 I see in a day and that's pm!!!

They are a really lovely team at Hochanda and it was bizarre that a couple of the presenters and producers came into the Green Room as they wanted to meet "Mrs Duck". Bit embarrassing but if I was "Mrs Smith" they probably wouldn't have been that curious lol!  Fascinating though to see behind the scenes.
Helped John set up (and pack up at the end) and didn't he do fabulously. I'm in the queue for some media plates too as they are currently as rare as rocking horse poo.
If you've got a set, bang em on eBay for £50 lol!!!

Thank you for bearing with my post overload this week. I know its usually just a couple of times per week, which normally teeters round everyone's yawn threshold (I thought I'd say that before anyone else does lol!!!) so I hope the post fest hasn't pushed you over the edge.
Next week, normal service will be resumed.

Also, in the next couple of days, John and I will be giving details of a craft workshop day we have set up for 2nd September at a Midlands venue, very handy for the M6, M69(M1), M6(M1) and A46.

That's me for today folks. Be back again tomorrow with another Daisy's card. . . . . . .bet you can't wait lol!!!

Daisy's Jewels & Crafts on Hochanda. . . . .

Good morning everyone. Hope all is ok with you.

Well, apologies for teasing you all but my exciting news is that I had been invited onto the Daisy's Jewels and Crafts design team and happily said "Yes".

Daisy's was my local craft store but has now moved to an on-line and craft show based business. They had their first show on Hochanda a few weeks ago and are back on your screens today at 7am and 12pm on Hochanda with Jo Austin.

I have made some samples for the shows so I hope you can tune in.

Now, my first card I'm showing for the team is this cute little fella. You all know I don't do cute or colouring but I couldn't resist this fab penguin.

Ingredients
White and red card
Presscut Oval dies
Daisy's Snowflake mask
Daisy's Cute Penguin stamp . . . . .  stamped onto Daisy's Cute Penguin MDF shape
Spectrum Noirs
Teeny red bling

There are 4 sets of stamps, featuring the penguin, a reindeer, Santa and an Elf.

The masks give a great deep emboss.

More cards to come over the next few days but I hope you get chance to see the shows or have a look at Daisy's website.

Sorry to disappoint those of you who thought I was screen testing at Hochanda on Tuesday to be on TV today . . . . . . I have a face for radio so they wouldn't let me on lol!!!
Hope it wasn't too much of an anti climax for you but having my cards on TV with 2 different companies in 2 days did excite lil ol' me lol!!!

Back again at 9am with my latest MAWTT DT card . . . . . . . . . its all go here!!!

P.S I will greet new followers tomorrow as its a bit hectic doing 2 blog posts for one day but thank you all anyway folks.

Day 4 & My Favourite. . . . .And a Prize

Good morning lovely blog friends. Hope you are all well.

Another warm welcome to some more new followers, Lynette, Alison, Deniseann and Gill. Thank you for taking time to visit and clicking that button.

As I am now over 150 followers, I am offering a little Paddle Prize, details of which are at the end of this post.

Now, today's creation is my favourite made with John's stamps and I have made it for my living room so, Mr Lockwood, you can keep your paws off this one lol!!!
I used the clock mechanism from one of the Pound World clocks in an 8x8 box frame.
I've gone for this colour as it matches our decor. Apologies for the white stripe at the bottom left of the photo. Its a reflection that I just couldn't get rid of.

Ingredients
White card
White 8x8 deep box frame (The Range)
Clock mechanism
John Next Door Spring, Summer and Autumn Flowers stamps
John Next Door Quattro Drops mask
Peacock Feathers distress ink
Black Archival ink
Magazine freebie numerals die with numbers cut from black funky foam
Teal gem on centre of hands

I just made a hole in the hardboard backing to accommodate the mechanism and painted the red second hand white with Tippex (hey, whatever is to hand has a use lol!!!).

Hopefully, it will get shown on one of John's shows. I am (hopefully) going with John today. An early start but a Maccy D McMuffin is adequate compensation for getting up before the birds lol!!!

Now, here is a snap of the little Paddle Prize for my reaching over 150 followers.

To be entered into the draw for this, you just need to be a follower and leave a comment on this post before 6am (GMT) on the 25th July.

Mr D will perform his pulling duties and the winner will be announced on the next post following the 25th. Thank you all and good luck!!!

I will be giving you a break tomorrow as I shall be back on Thursday with 2 posts, one at 6am and my usual MAWTT DT post at 9am.
I have some exciting news, well for me lol!!!, on the 6am post. . . . . . lets just say, today will not be my only sample appearances on Hochanda this week but shhhhh, don't tell anybody lol!!!

On that note, I need to get to bed (scheduling this Monday night).

Be good and thank you, as always for your encouraging comments.
